I stood before the judge that day[/tab]

As he refused my bail[/tab]



And I knew that I would spend my time

Awaiting trial in jail[/tab]

I said there is no justice[/tab]

As they led me out of the door[/tab]

And the judge said, "This isn't a court of justice son[/tab]

This is a court of law".[/tab]

They first sent me to Windsor[/tab]

And then to Stoke on Trent[/tab]



In a holding cell in Liverpool

Three days and nights I spent[/tab]

My solicitor can't find me[/tab]

And my family don't know[/tab]

I keep telling them that I'm innocent[/tab]

They just say, "Come on son, in you go."[/tab]

I was picked up on suspicion of something I haven't done[/tab]

Here I sit in 'F' wing waiting for my trial to come[/tab]

It's a cruel unusual punishment that society demands[/tab]

I ended up in this jail[/tab]

Built in 18-82[/tab]



When one man to one prison cell

Was a Victorian value[/tab]

[tab]      D

Now three of us are squeezed in here[/tab]

And you can't escape the smell[/tab]

Of that bucket in the corner[/tab]

And we eat in here as well[/tab]





They let me out of this cage

To slop that bucket out[/tab]



To get my food and bring it back

And if I'm lucky, get a shower[/tab]

Apart from one hours exercise[/tab]

I'm locked in here all day[/tab]

You don't turn criminals into citizens[/tab]

Is the prize of law and order the stench of Wormwood Scrubs[/tab]

With judges quick to sentence sending more down from above[/tab]
