He had some drinks and went to bed
The [] firemen said they found him dead
[] Sometime around 9: [] 30

The [] doctor said as the [] ambulance drove away
He [] died in his sleep, there was [] no pain
The [] fire chief said, they [] found him in bed
It was the [] smoke that killed him
Not the [] flames

Worked [] together in the card room
We used to [] share cigarettes
Near the [] open window on the []stair

[] Stick you head out to the fresh air
Take a [] drag and watch the river
Some[] times that river moves so slow
You [] could see it] passing [Am7by

John and []  I were out drinkin’
