Back Home In Aberdeen

INTRO:
Ten year have passed in what seems like a minute
Just a restless boy intent on having fun
Now I step down from the bus beside my old school
A wiser man now that the journey s done.
I ve learnt silence from those that speak their mind
I ve learnt kindness from those who are unkind
I ve travelled round the world in search of what I need
Found it all waiting back home in Aberdeen.
Refrain:
The river s lullaby that once subdued me
And the buzzing hills that improvised a wall
Are sweet now I no longer seek an answer
To the self-imposing saddest songs of all
And from that bitter root there grows a vine
That shows regret for wasted years is wasted time
Iâve travelled round the world in search of what I need
Found it all waiting back home in Aberdeen
Solo:
Opaque clouds unmask a worried old face
But the images dissolve behind a tree
Unafraid of change and happy now in small ways
There is now as there always was, just me.
And though the future is far off this much I know
Nothingâs as far away as one minute ago
I ve travelled round the world in search of what I need
Found it all waiting back home in Aberdeen
Iâve travelled round the world in search of what I need
Found it all waiting back home in Aberdeen
Refrain:
