Once Upon Another Time
By: Tom Seley
Once upon another time
I witnessed a butterfly
Drying off his tinted wings
And heave himself into the sky
He said, âToday is my big goodbye.
You see Iâm leavinâ my old-time cacoon behind.â
You know that what goes up falls down
And sooner or later we all come around
Like a boomerangâ¦that never hits the ground
We go around and around and come back with what we found
Change is coming, itâs on my mind
Change is coming, you canât rewind
Time has a rhythm; history rhymes
Change is coming, donât get left behind (resolve to root)
Recognize, we metamorphisize
And see the same world from very different eyes
From the tadpole swimming to the green frog hop hopping
Everythingsâ changing and itâs all non-stoppinâ
From the chick to the chicken, from the ocean to the kitchen
Be the fish or go fishinâ, livinâ life like a mission
Subtracting by addition. Multiply and divide
And remember: nothingâs constant but the oceanâs tide (Iâm talkinâ)
Change is coming, itâs on my mind
Change is coming, you canât rewind
Time has a rhythm; history rhymes
Change is coming, donât get left behind
I hope you like it! Let me know if you have any questions.
