This is the acoustic version of the track Rebel Tide from the Embellish EP
(listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/thejellyrox/rebel-tide-coffee-house).
This is an amazing song, and really easy and really fun to play.
The only thing I would suggest is being careful of the timing
of the chords. The transitions are syncopated, but once you
get the hang of it, it s a piece of cake. Enjoy!
Standard Tuning
Verse 1:
I m shooting for the stars to hit the moon
Mapping out a course for both my shoes
I ve already practiced acting like there s nothing to it.
Try to hold the world together in my mind
Try to make it snow in mid-July
Try to prove my heart is worth the blood that s pumping through it
Pre-chorus:
Praying like a child on Christmas Eve
Father won t you raise the sun early?
If you do this one last thing for me I ll be your soldier
Chorus:
And it takes you by surprise
Like a rebel tide
Like lightning from the sky has been searching for you
And it splits you like a knife
The moment that it strikes
When you realize that death was looking for you.
Verse2:
I try to keep my hopes above my doubts
Try to keep my thoughts above my mouth
I feel like a satellite just dying to leave my orbit
I take another shot at faking love
Miss it by a mile and then some
My insides are thirsty for whatever drink you re pouring
Pre-chorus:
Praying like a child on Christmas Eve
Father won t you raise the sun early?
I ask an awful lot of both my knees just waiting for you
Chorus 2:
And it takes you by surprise
Like a rebel tide
Like lightning from the sky has been searching for you
And it splits you like a knife
The moment that it strikes
When you realize that death was looking for you.
He was looking for you
Oh...
Oh...
And it takes you by surprise
Like a rebel tide
Like lightning from the sky has been searching for you
And it splits you like a knife
The moment that it strikes
When you realize that death was looking for you.
He was looking for you
Oh...
Oh... When you find out death was looking for you
