Biografía de Of Montreal
of Montreal es un grupo de indie pop/rock originario de Athens, Georgia, Estados Unidos. Kevin Barnes, vocalista de la banda, decidió llamar al grupo "of Montreal" tras un romance fallido con una chica originaria de Montreal, Canadá. La banda se formó en 1996, y su disco debut, "Cherry Peel", salió a la venta en 1997, seguido por el EP "The Bird Who Continues to Eat the Rabbit's Flower". El segundo LP de of Montreal fue "The Bedside Drama: A Petite Tragedy", grabado en su mayoría en la casa de Kevin Barnes en Athens. "The Gay Parade", tercer disco de la banda, fue lanzado en 1999 y permitió a la banda irse haciendo un nombre en la cultura indie de los Estados Unidos y Canadá. El grupo continuó con "Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies: A Variety of Whimsical Verse", lanzado en 2001, y "Aldhils Arboretum" en septiembre del 2002. Los últimos trabajos de larga duración de la banda permitieron que ésta adquiriera un estatus cercano al culto por los más fervientes seguidores del indie-pop en el mundo: "Satanic Panic in the Attic", "The Sunlandic Twins" y "Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?"; siendo el último el que los diera a conocer mundialmente gracias a sus tintes electrónicos.
