Walt Wilkins is a singer/songwriter from the Texas Hill Country (who s also done
some time in Nashville)--one of the unsung (pun intended) great songwriters, in my
opinion! This is one of my favorites of his.

Intro:
We come from the valleys, we come from the fields
We start rolling in here just after three
We approach as to an altar
With daily needs and gifts to offer our lady of the avenue
She brings salvation one glass at a time
Her congregation is slowly sanctified
We still believe in Jesus
But she s the one who heals us, our lady of the avenue
Of all the treasures in heaven, how could they let this one disappear?
With the whole wide world to travel, how the hell did she wind up here?
She graces us each with quiet understanding
Of the burdens we bear in these lives we ve been handed
Fulfilling as she listens
We re safe in her commission, our lady of the avenue
Of all the treasures in heaven, how could they let this one disappear?
With the whole wide world to travel, how the hell did she wind up here?
(x2)
Every night, I tell her that I love her
She calls me a ride, she won t serve me another
But she smiles at my confession
And that s a fitting benediction from our lady of the avenue
She s our lady of the avenue
Our lady of the avenue
