Biografía de Keane
Keane es un grupo musical de piano rock, Britpop y rock alternativo formado en 1997 procedente de Battle, Reino Unido. Los miembros actuales son Tim Rice-Oxley, compositor y pianista, Tom Chaplin como vocalista y organista, Richard Hughes en la batería, y Jesse Quin en el bajo.
Sus dos primeros álbumes, Hopes and Fears (2004) y Under the Iron Sea (2006), se han ido directo al número 1 inmediatamente después de su lanzamiento y han logrado considerables ventas alrededor del mundo, especialmente en Europa. Para el año 2008 lanzan Perfect Symmetry su tercera producción.
Keane es conocido por usar el piano como su principal instrumento en lugar de guitarras, al contrario de muchas bandas de rock. Sin embargo, hacen uso de pedales de efectos y sintetizadores, dándoles un gran rango de sonidos ilimitados al tradicional sonido del piano.
Incluso Tom Chaplin ha compuesto canciones propias antes de lanzar "Hopes and Fears" tenían dos discos EP: "Call me what you like" lanzado en el 2000 y "Wolf at the door" lanzado en el 2001, con el cual fue grabado con su anterior integrante Dominic Scott guitarrista de Keane. Dominic Scott abandonó la banda en el 2001 al ver escasez de éxito en Keane.
Tim Rice-Oxley ha colaborado con artistas como Gwen Stefani para su segundo album "The Sweet escape" en el cual Tim es el compositor principal de "Early Winter", uno de los singles del disco de Gwen.
También la banda ha colaborado y patrocinado a "War Child" para beneficiar a los niños afectados por la guerra con la cual han grabado un single, "The night sky" y covers de otros artistas para ayudar.
En el año 2010 lanzaron el EP llamado Night Train, el cual tuvo la colaboración del canadiene-somali K'naan del cual se destacan "My Shadow" lanzado en la exitosa serie Grey's Anatomy y "Stop for a minute" con propio vídeo de promoción.
