Acordes de The Who

Banda Inglesa de los años 60 que encabezó junto a The Small Faces y The Creation, entre otras, el movimiento Mod.

Integrada por Pete Townshend (guitarra y principal compositor) Keith Moon (batería), John Entwistle (bajo) y Roger Daltrey (voz).

Su segundo disco "A quick one" contiene el tema "A quick one while he's away" la primera mini ópera de Pete Townshend, quien más tarde escribiría "Tommy", su primera ópera rock, y quizás el álbum de mayor relevancia de esta banda.

The Who se destacaba del resto por sus increíbles actuaciones sobre el escenario, con Townshend dando saltos, tocando la guitarra con su característico movimiento de brazo como si fuesen las aspas de un molino, Moon con una actuación despabullante, tocando la batería como solo él sabía hacerlo, un Entwistle serio, como si se encontrara fuera de la situación que lo rodeaba, intentando de alejarse de las locuras de Moon y Townshend, Daltrey revoleando su micrófono en el aire como si fuera a enlazar a un toro, y toda esta demencia, esta parafernalia finalizaba con la guitarra y platillos volando por el escenario, sumado a una destrucción masiva de la batería, guitarra y amplificadores. Un legado de toda esta locura, esta carnicería del rock que The Who representaba en el escenario quedó registrada en el álbum "Live at Leeds" (también pueden encontrase grabaciones de sus recitales).

Su historia comienza en 1962, con una banda llamada The Detours integrada por Roger Daltrey (guitarra), John Entwistle (bajo y trompeta), Colin Dawson (voz), Dougie Sandom (batería) y Pete Townshend (guitarra). Dawson y Sandom son echados de la banda, Daltrey toma la voz y se les suma Keith Moon en batería. Cambiarían su nombre a The Who por una recomendación de Richard Barnes, un amigo de Townshend. Más tarde un Mod llamado Peter Meaden se transforma en su manager, les cambia el nombre por el de The High Numbers, les da una imagen mod, y así sacan su primer sencillo "I'm The Face/Zoot suit".

The High Numbers cambian de manager, vuelven a llamarse The Who y sacan su primer LP titulado "My Generation".

En 1969 sale a la venta el LP Tommy, un disco que marcó un antes y un después de la banda.

El único disco que llego a ser número uno en el reino unido fue "Who's Next", en U.S.A. llegaría al cuarto lugar.

Luego de éxitos, fracasos, peleas, rumores de separación, The Who sufriría dos grandes pérdidas, en agosto de 1978 se encuentra muerto a Peter Meaden, y el 8 de septiembre del mismo año muere Keith Moon por una sobredosis de pastillas que tomaba para combatir el alcoholismo, así The Who perdería una pieza irreemplazable, y el rock a un baterista de otro planeta. La banda opta por continuar y reemplazan a Moon por Kenny Jones, ex Small Faces, y esta es otra historia.
